  • Cindy Hughes, 60, of New Deroche, passed peacefully at home on April 13, 2016. Cindy was born July 17, 1955 to Robert and Rachel House.  She had a passion for quilting and loved to use her embroidery machine, but nothing could compare to the love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren.  Cindy was a loving wife, mother and Mimi. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.

    Cindy is preceded in death by her father, Robert House; and a brother, Bobby House.

    Cindy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Tony Hughes of New Deroche; her mother, Rachel House of Malvern; her sons, Mason (Jamie) Hughes of New Deroche and Evan (Shelly) Hughes of New Deroche; her daughter, Tara (Steven) Smith of Haskell; her brothers, Tim House of New Deroche; Duane House of Antioch; Danny (Stephanie) House of New Deroche; and her sister, Laura House of Hot Springs. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Ember Hughes, Garrett Hughes, Ethan Hughes, Blake Hughes, Bryson Smith, Everett Smith, and a large extended family consisting of nieces, nephews and cousins.

     

    Graveside services will be Friday, April 15, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Prairie Bayou Cemetery with Bro. Alan Cansler officiating.  Visitation will be Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel.

    Mason and family, I am so sorry. Having to say goodbye to your mother, wife and grandmother is one of the hardest things to do. Cherish the memories. Prayers for your family.

    Tony, my Heart hurts for you and your family. It is so hard to lose someone you love so much. Seems like only a short time ago, we were all in School without a care in the world. Prayers for you and all your family during this time of loss. May God comfort you.
